Acinetobacter are opportunistic pathogens and are frequently present on normal skin. Though widely prevalent in nature and generally regarded as commensals of human skin and respiratory and genitourinary tracts, (Al-Khoja, 1979) (Glew et al., 1977) they have been implicated as the cause of serious infectious diseases such as meningitis, pneumonia, tracheobronchitis, endocarditis, wound infections, and septicemia, mostly involving patients with impaired host defences (Seifert et al., 1993).
